Fieldwork Itinerary - 2017

Students will explore Da Nang, Hoi An, Cham Island and surrounding areas to discover new things that they may never have known about their community. Through a variety of presentations, experiential learning opportunities (through working directly with community members), and small group activities students will begin to see the essential components of sustainable development in action.

Throughout the program, students will work in small groups to assess local communities by learning about their strengths and resources. They will use their new knowledge to create an idea for a development project that they will present on the last day of fieldwork.

Along the way, we will meet with local NGOs, experts, and people that are passionate about the development of Central Vietnam. This program will push students outside of their comfort zone and encourage them to engage with local people they might not otherwise talk to in meaningful ways.

Lastly, students that participate in this program will be invited to join an online course in the Fall to continue to learn important skills in project management, like how to write a proposal.

Please note that all of the students accepted into this program will be expected to participate in all program activities, and must stay in Hoi An and Cham Island with the group. Please do not apply if you cannot fully commit to all activities between August 19th to 27th - attendance is mandatory. For more information on program costs, click here. Scholarships will be given based on financial need.
